Ultimate goal: There is a tremendous need for churches in Thailand and it is our goal to establish self-supporting, self-propagating churches that are led by nationals. With this comes the responsibility to disciple believers and to develop leadership within the churches (2 Timothy 2:2)
When we arrived in Thailand back in 2007, we began trying to understand the Thai culture and how best to begin a ministry. The first thing we learned was that Christianity is considered a western religion despite the fact it began in the middle east. Most Thai people will not visit a church unless first they have developed a relationship with someone in the church. Therefore there are some preliminary steps we must take before renting a building and hanging up a church sign. Our short-term goals are in place to give a good foundation for a future church.
Short-term goals: We are currently praying about and looking for a Thai believer to partner with us in starting an in-home Bible study. It is so important to have a Thai leader in place from the beginning as this shows the non-believers that Christianity is for Thai people too.
We are also planning to start a student/ministry center sometime next year. The plan is to use the center as an outreach into the community to bring in new contacts and ultimately give us the opportunity to share the gospel. The student center will go hand-in-hand with the Bible study in our ultimate goal of seeing a church planted in the Province of Nonthaburi.
