Bible study in small groups is our passion as this allows for a more relaxed setting and a better chance to build relationships with the Thai people. Since returning from furlough in March of 2011, we have been actively trying to build relationships within the new church we are working in. The key to a successful Bible study in Thailand is to have the support and help from Thai believers.
Sunday afternoon: Our first involvement in Bible studies is the Sunday afternoon session with the work/career aged group from church. Every Sunday afternoon the group meets for a couple of hours of Bible study, singing, and prayer time. Once a month the group comes to our house instead of meeting at the church. This time has been so beneficial in helping us build personal relationships. We are excited to see leadership skills in many of the young people in this group. Our goal for this group is to help develop these skills and then to see these leaders begin to help with other Bible studies.
Tuesday evening: Secondly, a new opportunity to be apart of a new in-home Bible study has opened up. A new believer in our church has such an incredible burden to see her lost friends and family hear the gospel that she has started her own Bible study. She has had several come to know Christ through this and has had many visitors come with her to church all because of her courage to share what Christ has done in her!
Future Bible study: We are currently working on starting our own in-home Bible study. Our prayer is that a couple of the young people from our Sunday Bible study will share our burden and decide to take part in it. We have met so many people in our area just by frequenting shops, businesses, and taking walks through our neighborhood. In this instance being an American is an asset as many Thai people are curious as to how we live and what our house is like. Please pray for this new outreach ministry!
